Now, a superfast camera that captures the speed of light!!

Believe it or not, scientists have developed a superfast camera, the size of a dustbin, which can capture the speed of light.

A team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology claims its superfast camera can show a bullet-shaped pulse of light travelling from one end of a laboratory flask to another in a fraction of a second, the British media said.

The scientists, however, say that it will be some time before the camera is commercially available.

Prof Ramesh Raskar at the MIT Media Lab told The Sunday Times: "With our ultra-fast imaging we can actually analyse how the photons are travelling through the world."

The camera can also create 3D images because it is capable of 'seeing' photons of light even inside objects, say the scientists.

The device was made by adapting a 'streaker tube' -- used by chemists to scan and capture light. It can record the progress of light pulses through a flask of liquid.

Each still picture had a shutter speed of 1.7 picoseconds -- a trillionth of a second.

Raskar added: "Watching this it looks like light in slow motion. It is so slow you can see the light itself move across the distance.

"This is the speed of light captured: there is nothing in the universe that moves faster, so we are at the physical limit of high-speed photography."

How To Enable Facebook Timeline Right This Second

1. Log into Facebook

2. Enable developer mode, if you haven’t already. To do this, type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result (it should be an app made by Facebook with a few hundred thousand users), and add the app.

3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)

4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.

5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page

6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.

Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”

7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings

8. Wait 2-3 minutes

9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page

Huawei launches world's 1st cloud phones in India

 

Telecom equipment maker Huawei on Tuesday launched its much-awaited tablet PC 'MediaPad' and two handsets 'Sonic' and 'Ideos X3' offering cloud services to strengthen its product portfolio in India.
The company, which has just 6-7 devices in its portfolio as of now, is also looking at expanding its product range aggressively in the next few months.
"We launched our devices earlier this year and by December-end, we should have 10-odd devices. India is a very important market for us and we are aggressively expanding our product-line in India.
Next year, the plan is to have 20-30 devices in our portfolio," Huawei marketing director (devices) Anand Narang told PTI.

The company is also looking at strengthening its retail presence and expects to have 10,000 outlets across more than 50 cities.
To cash in on the burgeoning tablet PC market in India, Huawei has launched MediaPad, a seven-inch Android 3.2 Honeycomb-based tablet.
Powered by Qualcomm's dual-core 1.2GHz processor, MediaPad features a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and 5MP rear camera. It is priced at Rs 28,359.
"The market for tablet PCs is huge. We expect to sell 5,000 units in the first month and gradually ramping it up as there is a huge potential in the market here," Narang said.

Experts have forecast that market for Indian tablet PC, which is smaller in size and has PC-like functionalities, will grow to a million units in volume in the next 12 months.
The Indian market is flooded with tablets and consumers have the option of choosing tablet PCs at various price points.
While the bigger brands like Apple's iPad and Research in Motions's PlayBook are priced above Rs 25,000, devices from the likes of Olive and Spice are available at much lower costs.
Huawei has also launched two handsets based on Cloud+ service under which users will get 16 GB cloud disk for storage.

The phones also offer richer messaging features with Message+, an application developed by Huawei's Indian team, to share texts, pictures, videos and voice notes; Phone Finder to locate, back-up and lock the device; and Cloud Gallery for easy viewing and sharing of pictures.
Huawei Sonic is priced at Rs 9,210, while Ideos X3 is priced at Rs 10,229. Both handsets are powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
